Essay lesson 38–1 : “Reading a book is better than listening to music.” Do you agree?

Do you think reading a book is better than listening to music? For me, it is a definite yes since I am a book lover. I can live without music. However, I cannot live without a book.

Books are a good way to get different kinds of knowledge. If you do not know something, you can read a relevant book on that topic. For me, when I do not know what a word means, I will use my dictionary to find the word before I use the Internet. Hence, books are useful when you do not know about a certain subject.

Books are more immersive. Reading takes you deeper into a story than ever before! When I am reading a fantastic story or novel, I might feel like I am the main character and I have the same feelings as that character. Thus, reading a book is more immersive than listening to music.

Books do not damage you. When you are listening to loud music, it might damage your ears and you might become deaf. Also, when you use computers, tablets, or smartphones too much, it might damage your eyes. Hence, reading a book is a great method to protect you.

However, you need time to relax. Everyone needs to relax from listening to music, watching movies and videos, or even playing computer games. For me, I will listen to music and play video games to relax. It is a good method to relax.

Reading books is a good way to spend your time, and increase your knowledge. I recommend you to read books in your free time. It helps you learn more.
